MMUST: Referee was lenient on Mukanzi injury

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) coach Ochieng’ Ahaya believes that Mwamba’s Eliakim Kichoi escaped punishment following his horrendous challenge on Ian Mukanzi when the sides clashed at the Sepetuka 7s quarterfinals.
Mukanzi’s injury consequently ruled him out of last weekend’s fifth round of KUSA 7s and he is expected to be back in action in the next one week.

Red card
“It was a bad injury and we felt that the referee was a bit lenient because that should have warranted a red card in an international tournament,” Ahaya lamented.
“Mukanzi is however out of danger. We also had another player-Kevin Abuga¬†pick an injury on day one of Sepetuka and he is set to return after two weeks but that does not worry us since we have depth.”
MMUST who had a solid outing at the Sepetuka 7s after finishing sixth will be hoping to replicate a similar showing at the third round of the circuit,Kabeberi 7s slated for the weekend of 18-19 August in Machakos.
