MMUST rugby mourning

Despite impressing in the Sepetuka 7s division I, KRU Championship newbies MMUST were mourning the demise of Timothy Mmasi’s father,  Aggrey Mmasi Shayo.
Mr Shayo passed on on Saturday evening at Eldoret Referral hospital where he was undergoing treatment. His son Timothy, however, carried on with day two action and his impressive display saw MMUST finish sixth in the Sepetuka 7s.
The former Kabras RFC man was also named among the best seven players in the tournament. His head coach Dr Ochieng Ahaya admitted that the news affected the team.
“It is unfortunate and it is an issue that has touched the whole team. It is a heavy thing on Timothy and the team as well. As much as he played well he was a bit disturbed. We talked to him and advised him to put everything behind since he also has exams on Monday and we urged him to be strong and prepare for it.   We want to assure him that we will stand with him during this hard time.” Ochieng told Scrummage.
From the Scrummage desk, we extend our deepest sympathies to Mmasi and his family. May the soul of his father be at peace with our Heavenly Father.
