Homeboyz are the Prinsloo 7s winners after 19-12 win over Mwamba RFC in a final match played at Nakuru Athletic Club on Sunday.
Kenyan International Bush Mwale put Homeboyz to lead following a powerful run in the opening minutes. Michael Wanjala conversion’s gave Paul Murunga’s side a 7-0 lead.
Alvin Otieno extended the lead with a touch down at centre of the posts and Olindi’s extras turned the scores to 14-0. Mwamba replied with a try at the left corner and Kulabu were just nine points behind as the teams headed out for halftime.
The final half seemed to tighter that the opening half but Homeboyz forced one more try with Mark Wandeto going over 19-05. Mwamba scored the final minute but it was too late for them.
Last years Prinsloo winners KCB finished fourth after a 12-10 loss to Impala Saracens in the third place playoffs.
Fifth place final
In the fifth place finals, Kenya Harlequins registired a 22-17 win over Nakuru. With the scores the tied at 0-0 Gramwel Bunyasi’s individual brilliance saw him break and crossed over to lead 5-0 and the extras saw the hosts lead 7-0.
Mike Ochieng pulled back for Quins after a try at the right corner. The sides went to the halftime break with Wanyore leading by a two point gap.
On return for the break, Nakuru extended their lead to 12-0 after resumption but Ochieng scored at the other end and brought Quins back to the game with a converted try that tied the scores at 12-12.
Donald Olouch scored at the left corner to keep the dream of winning the clash alive. Their lead was however shortlived after Ochieng pounced on a lose ball and made a 50 metre dash to tie the scores.
Quins blew the chance to win the clash in the final minute and a conversion miss send the game to the extra time.
Bunyasi was sent off in the extra time and Quins took advantage of the opportunity and scored to get 22-17 win.
