RWC 7s: Uganda coach admits underdog tag ahead of Samoa duel

Uganda 7s head coach Tolbert Onyango accepts that they will be among the underdogs at this year’s Sevens World Cup scheduled for the iconic AT&T Park in San Fransisco, USA between 20-22 July.
The African champions start their hunt for the Melrose Cup with a pre-round of 16 duel against former World Sevens series champions Samoa and a win could see them book a date with England in the round of 16.
“There is no doubt about it. We are underdogs punching above the belt but we are determined to write a mark in this tournament and that motivates us as we prepare to face Samoa who are a regular World Rugby Series,” Onyango told New Vision.
“We have trained and selected our best squad and now what we are remaining with is to execute our game plans for better results,” he added.
A loss against Samoa on Friday will relegate Onyango’s charges to the Bowl where they will come up against other pre-round of 16 losers.
