Rankings: Kenya Simbas stagnate as World Cup bound Samoa climb

Samoa’s qualification for RWC 2019 as the Play-Off winner has come with an added bonus;they are back up to 16th in the World Rugby Rankings.
The Pacific Islanders followed up their 66-15 win in the first leg of their Oceania/Europe play-off match against Germany with a 48-28 victory in the return match in Heidelberg. And while the come-from-behind victory was worth only four-hundredths of a rating point, it was still enough to take Samoa above Romania in the rankings.
Having clinched their place in Pool A 114-43 on aggregate, Samoa can now look forward to games against hosts Japan, Scotland, Ireland and Russia, while Germany are left with one more chance to qualify – via the global repechage in Marseilles in November.
Meanwhile with the Africa Gold Cup having taken a break, Kenya Simbas remain rooted at 28th spot for a third week running.Ian Snook’s charges are on 56.30 points ahead of their next assignment against Tunisia in Nairobi  on 11 August.
