KUSA 7s: Blak Blad overpowers MMUST to win Kaimosi 7s

Blak Blad are Kaimosi 7s champions following a 31-19 win over Masinde Muliro University in the finals played on Sunday evening at Kaimosi.
It was the third time in a row that the two were facing off in the finals. MMUST won the Dekut leg while Blad won the TUM 7s.
Heading to this final, MMUst were seeking to revenge TUM 7s loss but found themselves behind after Blad scored first courtesy of a try by Brian Wahinya. Claus Shirievo responded with a try at the centre of the posts and Timothy Mmasi added the extras for a 7-5 lead.

Claus Shirievo scored three times in the finals and ended up as Kaimosi 7s top scorer.

A knock at the 22-metre line saw MMUST win a scrum and they made it count by scoring the second try through Shirievo and Mmasi’s conversion send the side to a 14-5 lead at halftime.
Michael Tank Otieno’s charges came back stronger in the closing half and scored immediately after the kickoff. Two more tries send the Kenya Cup side to a 24-14 lead.

Brian Wahinya Blak Blad was named the man of the match after helping the side win Kaimosi 7s

Shirievo would cut the deficit to five points with a try for Mmust but Blak Blad scored once more for a 31-19 win. Shirievo finished as the top scorer after bagging 10 tries while Wahinya was the Most Valuable Player.
Action will now head to Nakuru County on 14 and 15 of July for Egerton 7s.
