Kings of Rugby 7s hailed for exposing fringe players

Blak Blad head coach Michael ‘Tank’ Otieno praised the Kings of Rugby 7s university’s circuit for providing play time to fringe players.
The tournament is expected to enter its third leg on 30 June in Kaimosi and ‘Tank’ further applauded the organizers for providing an opportunity for local referees.
“The beauty of the KUSA Kings of Rugby 7s is that it is exposing a lot of players in universities who normally don’t get the opportunity to play in the KRU National Sevens Circuit,” ‘Tank’ told Scrummage.
“We are seeing a lot of universities such as Zetech and Murang’a coming up.A side like MKU has been consistent, finishing third at Dedan Kimathi and fourth in Mombasa. For me its a brilliant idea,” he added.
“What I like is that when we were in Nyeri, the referees from the area were given the opportunity to officiate and that was the same in Mombasa.”
