Kenya Simbas claws Morocco in Africa Cup thriller

Kenya Simbas got off their Africa Gold Cup quest with a 28-24 win over Morocco in a match staged at the COC stadium in Casablanca on Saturday 23 June.
Simbas opened the scoring inside three minutes, going over for a converted try courtesy of Biko Adema before the Moroccans cut the deficit to two points with a five pointer.
A well executed rolling maul would see the hosts take a 10-7 lead at half-time after landing their second try of the match.
Morocco would stretch their advantage with a converted try before Tony Onyango and Moses Amusala crossed the chalk for two converted tries to ensure Kenya regained her lead.
Simbas then scored a fourth try,Onyango sealing his brace to take the scores to 28-17 as the Atlas Lions responded with a try that was converted to cut the deficit to four points.
A nervy ending would see Morocco’s try disallowed as Kenya held on to claim a maiden win on Moroccan soil.
Kenya’s next match is against Zimbabwe in Nairobi on 30 June while Morocco hosts leaders Namibia on the same day.
