KSSSA 7s: Students decry being forced to play Rugby in sewage pitch

A section of students from Central region have complained of being forced to play in a bad conditioned pitch during the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Nyahururu Zone rugby 7s games hosted at Nyahururu High School grounds a fortnight ago.
Participating teams at the tournament were hosts Nyahururu High, Nyeri High School,Magumu School and Karima with a source who spoke to Scrummage on condition of anonymity lamenting that the tournament was poorly organized.
“The games hosted at Nyahururu high were shambolic.Officiating was poor and the pitch was not well marked;the try box was less than the required 10 metres,”the source disclosed.

“Students were forced to play in raw sewage and when they raised complains, the organizers threatened that they risked disqualification.”
“There was a pitch adjacent that was in a better condition but they (organizers) could not allow us to use it.”
