Zimbabwe fights back to hold Morocco in Gold Cup opener

Zimbabwe Sables and Morocco played to a 23-23 draw in the opening match of the Africa Gold Cup staged in Harare this Saturday 16 June.
Zimbabwe’s next assignment is an away clash against Kenya at Nairobi’s RFUEA grounds on 30 June while Morocco welcomes Kenya Simbas at COC Rugby in Casablanca next Saturday.
Both sides got onto the scoresheet through two tries, two penalties and three conversions.
In what was Peter De Villiers’ maiden competitive assignment as the Sables coach, the Moroccans took a shock 16-14 lead to the interval and a nervy second half would see Zimbabwe rally to force a stalemate against the newcomers.
