Zambia stunned Zimbabwe Sables 26-12 in a friendly tie staged at the Chester Dean Arena in Lusaka on Saturday 9 June.
In what was the Sables’ final warm up match ahead of the 2018 Africa Gold Cup, they found themselves trailing to tries by Israel Kalumba and Fernand Kashimoto at the break.
Bithlock Sikaona extended Zambia’s lead with a five pointer before they sealed the remarkable win with a converted try at the death.
In his post match reactions, Zimbabwe coach Peter De Villiers is quoted by the Zambia Rugby Union as saying :“My boys have outdone my expectations, as you know, when one is introduced on an international platform they usually experience Stage Fright but my boys skipped all that by putting Country first.”
Zimbabwe open their Africa Gold Cup campaign on Saturday 16 June with a home clash against new comers Morocco at the Harare Sports Club starting 2:30pm.
