Kenya 7s coach elated with London, Paris showing

Kenya 7s coach Innocent Simiyu expressed his satisfaction with Shujaa’s display in the final two legs of the HSBC world sevens series in London and Paris.
The side amassed eight points at the London 7s after clinching the challenge trophy but a tough outing in the French capital saw them manage three points.
“We didn’t get the results that we wanted in London and Paris but we are very happy with the boys in terms of performance. If you look at it in terms of performance, this was our best performance,” Simiyu is quoted on the Kenya Rugby Union portal.
In Paris, Kenya was unfortunate not to reach cup quarter finals despite picking two wins from a pool that was arguably the toughest at the tourney.
“Looking at Paris, this is the first time we were in a tough pool and we managed to win two games and lose out on points difference.”
In what was only his second season in charge, the ex-Kenya international led the side to its highest ever points tally in a single season; 104.
“We were in another tough pool in London and raised our hand. If we would have managed to get to the quarters we would have been talking about something else” concluded Simiyu.
