Kenya Simbas flyhalf Isaac Adimo acknowledged that their forwards played a  part as they edged Uganda 34-16 in the Elgon Cup first leg in Kampala.
Adimo who was named man of the match in the clash staged at the Legends Club also attributed the win to having studied Uganda’s style of play prior to Saturday’s duel.
“We have been training so hard. We were just sticking to the plan and keeping everything simple. The boys were fit and sharp so it was easier for us to say in the game for a very good time,” Adimo told Kawowo Sports.
“Our forwards played a part; we dominated in the breakdowns, in the lineouts, scrums and also in the racks. They made it easier for the backs to get the game going.”
“We watched a couple of videos of Uganda play and we noticed they like to play tight so we decided to shift the ball wide and it played to our advantage.”
The Elgon Cup return leg which will also act as an Africa Gold Cup fixture will be staged in Nairobi on 7 July.
