Kabras Sugar's Mugerwa satisfied with Uganda's preparations

Uganda captain and Kabras Sugar loosehead Asuman Mugerwa is contented with the preparations the side has undertaken as the 2018 Africa Gold Cup draws closer.
The Rugby Cranes may have started their international season on a low after losing 34-16 to Kenya Simbas in the Elgon Cup first leg but the Gold Cup remains the key target since this year’s edition serves as a qualifier to the Japan 2019 World Cup.
“We have had good preparations since last year.So far, we have had two training camps and most recently we had two friendly matches against a South African Supa-Babas side.”
“These preparations have helped the team gel for the better,”Mugerwa is quoted by Kawowo Sports.
On the new players drafted to the side, the burly forward reckoned that it was purely on merit.
“The new players are on the team because they really proved that they have to be there. They are energetic and willing to serve. It is good to have them around gel with the experienced lads,”added Mugerwa.
The side was scheduled to play two test matches against South African side Free State Cheetahs on 30 May and 2 June but they have since been cancelled owing to the unavailability of the South Africans who have a busy schedule.
Uganda’s Africa Gold Cup campaign begins on 16 June when they visit the Hage Geinghob stadium in Windhoek, Namibia to face the hosts.
