The Kenya 7s side Shujaa has been appointed as the Kenyan brand ambassadors to promote the country for the next eight months.
The side will now have the name “Make it Kenya” at the front of their jerseys.
Brand Kenya Board Direct Chris Diaz is quoted by the Kenya Rugby Union as saying:”this partnership will provide Brand Kenya with the platform to engage both the local and international community with positive messaging about Kenya.”
“Having Shujaa as part of the country’s global ambassadors will enable the board to activate a local and global campaign, given that rugby remains one of the biggest social events in the world.”
Kenya Rugby Union chair Richard Omwela on his part thanked Brand Kenya for making the move at a time the side is struggling financially.
“We thank brand Kenya for coming through at a very difficult time. We are happy that rugby plays a significant part in promoting Kenya as a destination,” Omwela said.
Kenya 7s is currently stepping up preparations for the final two legs of the HSBC World 7s series in London and Paris.
For the London 7s, the side is in pool C alongside USA, hosts England and France.
