UoE Trojans edge Swara to stay in KRU Championship

UoE Trojans have successfully protected their KRU Championship status after beating Swara 26-16 in a playoff tie staged in Eldoret this Saturday 19th May. 
UoE needed the win in order to remain in the second tier while a win for the visitors would see them earn Championship promotion.
The students scored through four tries and three conversions as Swara managed two tries and two penalties.
Swara opened the scoring with a 10th minute penalty before Antony Omondi handed UoE the lead 10 minutes later as he went over the chalk for a try that was converted by Kevin Chelimo.
Swara would score an unconverted try before Chelimo converted Tobby Odhiambo’s touch down to send the students 14-8 up at the breather.
Just like the opening half,Swara would draw first blood in the second half as they landed a three pointer before Kevin Okumu responded for UoE with a converted try as Swara managed an unconverted try.It was Gedion Maasai who put the icing on the cake for UoE, as he touched down on the stroke of full time to seal a 26-16 win for his side.
