South African National Cwengile Jadezweni has been appointed as the centre referee for the 2018 Elgon Cup first leg pitting Uganda Rugby Cranes against Kenya Simbas.
Jadezweni is no stranger in Kenyan rugby circles having officiated the Kenya Simbas vs Hong Kong friendly clash in Nairobi 27th August 2017.It was on this day that he made his test debut.
The 31-year old Stellebosch-born whistle-blower was promoted to the South African Rugby Referees’ Association’s Elite Panel for 2016, before being named on the refereeing panel for the 2016 World Rugby Under 20 Championship held in England.
The match to be staged at the Legnds Rugby grounds in Kampala on Saturday 26th June will get underway at 4:30pm.
The second leg will be played in Nairobi on Saturday 7th July with the fixture set to double as an Africa Gold Cup match.
Kenya Simbas are the Elgon Cup defending champions having won away in Kampala in 2017 before a late penalty try in Nairobi saw the side then coached by Jerome Paarwater clinch the title.
