Fans play a massive role at clubs. They give support to the teams they love through thick and thin and stick together through good and bad times.
It is more interesting whenever this love extends off field especially to fellow fans who always turn up to support on a weekly basis. Kabras RFC, one of the fastest growing clubs in Kenya having been formed in 2013 has fanbase that growing fast as well.
The fanbase united in late April to give their departed fellow fan Eric Achapa Omondi commonly known as Omosh a perfect sent off after he passed on in Kakamega in April. Led by their chairman, Frank Owen Wafula the team of fans went on to make contributions (kshs.106 000) and travelled to Siaya for Omosh sent off.
Wafula described departed Omosh as a committed fan who will be missed by the rest of the members. He has lauded the fanbase for staying united and making contributions towards Omosh burial.
“As chairman of Kabras Rugby fans, may the soul of our departed fan Omosh Rip. He was a committed fan whom will all miss for sure, to Kabras fans thanks so much for your contributions towards assisting the departed soul, his family and friends really appreciated your support. Rugby to us remains not only a game in the pitch but also a family. God bless the tang tang family,” he told Scrummage.
