Kenya Lionesses head coach Kevin Wambua says that the side is set to represent the country at this weekend’s Africa cup women’s 7s tournament slated for Tunisia.
Speaking to the Scrummage, Wambua said that the Mombasa camp was a success and they intend to polish on a few areas especially on mental strength before departing to Tunisia on Thursday morning.
“The Mombasa camp has been good so we expect to leave for Tunisia on Thursday morning..the girls responded well to the Mombasa climate because thats the kind of climate we expect to get in Tunisia,”he said.
“We have done a lot of technical work with the team especially on the new rules and now we are ready to go and represent the nation..whats remaining now is more of mental preparedness,”concluded Wambua.
Meanwhile,the travelling squad has been named and veteran player Philadelphia Olando will captain the side during the two-day tournament that will double up as a qualifier for next year’s sevens world cup in San Fransisco,USA.
Others who have made the cut includes Judith Auma who is set for her debut,Sinaida Aura and Rachel Mbogo.Catherine Abilla,Diana Awino and Linet Moraa are named as non-travelling reserves.
The Lionesses are in pool B alongside Zimbabwe,Senegal and Madagascar.
