Impala Saracens’ centre Samuel Motari has heaped praise on Menengai Oilers after his side beat them in the Kabeberi 7s cup final on Sunday 10 September.
After reaching the Driftwood 7s semi final in Mombasa,Oilers went a step further in Nairobi by stunning the big guns to reach the cup final where they lost to Impala and Motari believes that the side will be a force to reckon with in years to come.
“They are a great side and they have given a lot of teams a run for their money and in a few years to come, they will be causing ripples in Kenyan rugby,”said Motari.
In the cup final which the Sarries dominated from the onset,Motari says that their experience was key in ensuring that they dismissed Gibson Weru’s young guns.
“We banked on our experience and for them they are a young side and they have the energy so we had to take the game to them..nothing is as sweet as defending a title..i never played last season so i cant tell how those who played are feeling,”he concluded.
Oilers currently sit top of the national sevens circuit standings having gannered 36 points at the conclusion of the first two legs.
