Manawatu Turbo’s,home to Kenyan international Willy Ambaka was on the receiving end of a dissapointing home loss after falling 20-17 to Bay of Plenty in a Mitre 10 Cup clash on Friday September 8.
Bay of plenty scored courtesy of Joe Webber and three penalties from flyhalf Kelly Haimona before they were awarded a penalty try at the death.
In the match which Ambaka clocked 80 minutes, the Turbos who were playing in front of their home crowd got themselves onto the scoreboard courtesy of lewis Marshall and Otere Black who touched down and drilled in a penalty.
This is the second loss in succession for the Turbos as they had fallen away to Otago with a 40-30 scoreline last weekend.
The loss now leaves Manawatu’s chances of promotion hanging as they have slipped further off the top four.
