Impala 7s coach confident of a good outing at Driftwood

Impala Saracens sevens head coach Nick Abok is oozing with confidence ahead of the Driftwood 7s tournament slated for the weekend of 9-10 September at the Mombasa Sports Club.
Impala yesterday named their travelling contingent of 13 players to the coastal town and Abok is adamant of putting up a good showing in Mombasa.
Speaking to Impala Saracens, Abok said that the teaam is beaming with confidence as they seek to kickstart their 7s season on a high.
-I am strongly confident of a good outing in Mombasa. You can see it in the boys’ faces beaming with excitement.
-The 13 players on our travelling list are the ones who have gone a notch better than the others. This is not our final 7s squad anyway.
-The other 9 players are still in the pool of selection. We have 6 legs of the 2017 7s circuit to play,” he said.
Abok also echoed backs tactician’s Oscar Osir’s sentiments who had indicated that they intend to rotate the players in the 6 circuits they will participate in.
“If we were allowed, we would bring all 22 players to Driftwood7s, but the structures can only allow us a specific number.
-At the beginning of the season, every player is given targets & it is up to players to dig deeper and exceed the depths,”he concluded.
At the Driftwood 7s, Impala is in pool C together with KCB,host side Mombasa RFC and University of Nairobi’s Mean Machine.
