Namibia stages comeback to beat Zimbabwe

Namibia put up a good showing in the second half to beat the Zimbabwe sables 31-26 in an entertaining Africa Gold cup clash played on Saturday 15 July,2017 at the Hage Geinghob stadium in Windhoek.
Namibia went into the match as favourites having won their opening two matches with huge scorelines.They however found themselves on the backfoot early in the game as Zimbabwe took the lead through a penalty.Namibia would then find a response as Damiea Stevens went over the whitewash with Eugene Jantjies converting successfully for a 7-3 Namibia lead.
Zimbabwe then hit back with a try taking the scores to 10-7 before adding another try and a penalty ensuring that they led the homeside 20-7 at the break.
In the second half,Zimbabwe extended their lead yet again through a penalty but Darryl De la Harpe touched down for an uncoverted try for the Namibians ensuring the scores were at 20-12.Gino Wilson then cut the deficit as he touched down,and Zimbabwe extended their lead with a penalty.Namibia would then stage a comeback with two tries to win the contest 31-26.
Zimbabwe will however rue having missed a try on the last play of the match as their player knocked on with the try line beckoning.
