Muhuri Muchiri Secondary targeting National 7s title

Nairobi region sevens champions Muhuri Muchiri Secondary will be seeking to claim the national gong when the KSSSA term 2A national rugby 7s championship gets underway on Tuesday at Shimo la Tewa High school, Mombasa.
After falling short in their maiden appearance in 2015 where they bowed out at the pool stage, the Njiru based school will fancy their chances of making it this time round with the absence of heavyweights such as Kakamega High, Laiser Hill and St Peter’s Mumias.
In the Nairobi regional games, “Texas” as they are fondly referred to shocked experienced side Upperhiil before seeing off Nairobi School 31-12 in the final to be crowned champions as well as earning the ticket to Mombasa.
Muchiri head coach Kikechi Kombo was quoted by nation sport as saying that they have what it takes to be crowned national 7s kings at the second time of asking.
Kombo further called on his charges to replicate the same form that saw them conquer the Nairobi region.
“I think we have one of the most experienced squads and are determined to show our worth. We played at the nationals two years ago, and we are back wiser and better prepared,”Kombo said.
He however has his work cut out for him as they are set to face stiff opposition from seasoned schools like Maseno school and Kangaru school.
