Kenya 7s and Lionesses will return to action on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 February for the Madrid 7s International Tournament’s second leg.
Shujaa will have five matches at the round-robin stage as Chile are expected to feature in the two-day tournament. Their opening match will be on Saturday at 1:06 PM (East African Time) against Portugal. Innocent Simiyu’s charges will then return to action at 4:34 PM EAT to face USA in a match that they seeking to complete a double.
The final match on Saturday is against the hosts Spain and is expected to kick off at 7:18 PM. On Sunday, Shujaa will face new entrants Chile at 1:20 PM EAT and will conclude their round-robin campaign against last weekend’s winners Argentina at 3:42 PM.
Kenya 7s will be hoping to revenge last weekend’s losses to the Argentines which saw them finish second behind the South Americans. The top two teams after the round-robin phase are expected to face off in the finals while the third and fourth-placed teams will meet in the third-place playoffs. The bottom-placed teams will play the fifth-place play-offs.
For Kenya Lionesses, they will once again start off with a clash against Russia before tackling Poland and USA on Saturday. On Sunday, Felix Oloo’s charges will play France and host Spain.
The tournament is sponsored by World Rugby in preparation for the Tokyo Games is organized by the Spanish Rugby Federation (FER) with the support of the Madrid City Council, the Community of Madrid and the Higher Sports Council (CSD.
