New dates for U20 Barthes Trophy scheduled for Nairobi

The 2021 Rugby Africa U20 Championship, initially scheduled for March 25 to April 4, will now be played between June 24 and July 4 in Nairobi.

The tournament will be held in Nairobi with Kenya having won the rights to host the next three editions till 2022.

The 2020 edition could not go on as planned following the outbreak of Coronavirus which saw Rugby Africa cancel all the scheduled events.

Reigning champions Kenya, who recently appointed Curtis Olago as head coach, will battle with the likes of Namibia, Senegal, Madagascar for continental supremacy.

Winners of the competition will represent Africa in the Junior World Trophy Tournament which is slated for September 2021.

Kenya beat Namibia at the KCB Sports Club to win the 2019 edition, a feat that earned them qualification to the Junior World Trophy tournament in Brazil where they finished sixth.
