Alun Jones, Tomas to reach new milestone in Wales-Ireland Autumn clash

Wales have announced the squad that will play the Autumn Nations Cup opener against Ireland on Friday in Dublin.

Captain Alun Wyn Jones makes his 150th test appearance (141st appearance for Wales, plus 9 British & Irish Lions caps) as Prop Tomas Francis earns his 50th cap. Tomas will be in the frontrow alongside Rhys Carre and hooker Ryan Elias.

Will Rowlands will once again partner Jones in the second-row. Having recovered from tonsillitis, flanker Justin Tipuric joins Shane Lewis-Hughes and Taulupe Faletau in the backrow.

The backline is unchanged with Gareth Davies and Dan Biggar at half-back, while Owen Watkin and Jonathan Davies partnering in the midfield. Josh Adams, Liam Williams and Leigh Halfpenny form the back-three.

On the bench Elliot Dee, Wyn Jones and Samson Lee provide the front-row cover with Jake Ball and Aaron Wainwright completing the forward contingent. Uncapped fly-half Callum Sheedy is named in the matchday squad for the first time.

Sheedy is joined on the bench by Lloyd Williams and George North, the latter in line for his 100th test appearance if he takes to the field (currently on 96 Wales caps plus 3 British & Irish Lions).
