Cape Town-based SX10 could not feature on the first day of the World 10s Series second round played at the Bermuda National Stadium on Monday.
The side which has Kenya 7s stars Collins Injera, Willy Ambaka, Andrew Amonde, Oscar Ouma and Oscar Dennis and South African stars has been isolating and did not get their clearance to leave the hotel in time.
The side had COVID-19 tests on Monday morning and were expecting to have their results in time whereby negative tests of all members would allow them to feature in the tournament which was pushed back by two days to allow them to participate. The delay in having their results saw them forfeit day one matches.
SX10 which has been training in a bubble will be hoping to be cleared for matchday two which is scheduled for Tuesday. The side missed the first round last week having been requested to isolate after one member of their team tested positive.
Once again tournament had to go on with six teams with London Royals earning revenge over Rhino’s who beat them last week. The Royals scored twice to beat Rhinos 12-0 and bounce back winning ways.
Tom Emery scored the opener for the side and two points in the conversion jeopardy saw the Royals head to the break leading 7-0. A spill of the ball in the second half saw London Royals punish Rhinos with  Richard de Carpentier picking the loose ball and racing on to score the final try.
London Royals had earlier suffered the second defeat in the tournament going down 15-11 to Miami Sun in the first match of the day. Miami scored two tries and converted one at long range to earn 15 points in the win. London Royals had two tries and managed one conversion from close range for 11 points in the clash.
Ohio Aviators ended Rhino’s unbeaten run in the competition, beating the side 11-10 in the second match of the day. Both sides scored a try each with Ohio Aviators close-range conversion jeopardy earning them a point that made the difference.
Aviators second match saw them beat Phoenix 22-0, scoring three tries. Aviators unbeaten run on day one, however, came to an end as they fell to Asian Pacific 20-16 in the final match of the day which each side score three tries.
The Dragons who had beaten Phoenix 27-5 scoring four tries in the win were the only unbeaten side, winning all of their two matches in the competition.
After two straight losses to Dragons and Aviators in this round, Phoenix managed to snap up their winless streak by beating Miami Sun courtesy of Lewis Berg lone try.
Matchday two is expected to kick off at 3:30 PM EAT.
