KCB Rugby to hold fundraiser for departed Tony Onyango

Kenya Cup defending Champions KCB will hold a fundraiser on Friday 13 March to raise funds which will be directed to Tony Onyango’s funeral expenses.

The fundraiser is set to start at 6 PM at KCB Sports Club-Ruaraka’s main hall.  Funds can also be channeled directly to to the pay bill number set out by the family. The pay bill number is 8012569 account name Tony Daniel Onyango.

Onyango a Kenya Cup winner with the Bankers in 2018/19 season collapsed and died last week on Tuesday 3 March. He joined KCB in the 2018 transfer window and made his debut on Saturday 1 December at KCB Sports Club as the bankers beat Mwamba 33-13.

The former Maseno School captain played for the National team in all categories. His journey with the National team began as he featured for Kenya U19s in 2010 at the Africa U19 Championship in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

Two years later he made it to the Kenya Simbas team after being called up Coach Michael Tank Otieno. His senior debut was in the 2012 Elgon Cup. He became a regular in the team with his last appearance being during the Repechage Tournament held in France.

The former Homeboyz and Strathmore fullback also donned the Kenya 7s jersey in 2013/14 and 2014/15 World series seasons under Paul Treu and Felix Ochieng.
