Mwamba RFC have reversed the decision to hand Kabras RFC a walkover in the Enterprise Cup and will now honour the clash slated for the Bull Ring.
Early on Friday, the club released a statement stating that they were going to send the second-string side to Kakamega for the Mwamba Cup and their senior side would not be in action this weekend to allow the injured players recover and have enough rest for the Kenya Cup quarters.
“Mwamba will send one team to Kakamega this weekend. We will, therefore, play Kabras in Mwamba Cup only. A decision has been made to miss this weekend’s EnterpriseCup,” reads a statement by Mwamba’s official Twitter page.
“This decision was reached on the advice of the club’s medical team as the first team is currently decimated by injuries. The doctors advised that the players will need extended rest and recovery in order to be fully fit for the rest of the #KenyaCup campaign,” the statement further read.
However, Scrummage now understands that they have kicked off their journey to Kakamega. The club has gone ahead to confirm via their twitter handle that they will honour the clash.
“UPDATE: Further to our earlier communication, we wish to clarify that we will indeed take part in this Saturday’s Enterprise Cup tie against Kabras in Kakamega. Kindly disregard the previous update,” the club stated.
