Koyonzo, Mukumu to battle for Kakamega County 7s title

Surprise package Koyonzo and Mukumu will be battling for the maiden Kakamega County Secondary School 7s title after winning their respective semifinal matches played at St Peters Mumias.

Mukumu Boys beat Butere 19-10 to reach the finals for the second time in a row.  Brady Musalia bagged a brace with and two conversions for Mukumu. Elvis Makale added the third try for the side to enter the finals.

Koyonzo, on the other hand, kept their hopes of winning both 7s and 15s alive after seeing off Chebuyusi 17-5 in the first semi-final. Moses Matonda, James and Brian Kiptanui crossed over for their opening three tries.

Chebuyusi will tackle Butere in the third-place playoffs. 2019 Champions St Peters were eliminated at the quarterfinal stage following a loss to Koyonzo. Former Giants Musingu were also sent packing at the same stage while Kakamega High opted to field only the15s team at the school games.

Three teams will represent the County in the regional games set for 18 March in Busia county at Nambale Boys.
