Kenya Simbas training squad was named on Tuesday with a total of 46 players being picked for the training sessions scheduled to commence in March.
The Technical bench opted to maintain most of the players that featured in the 2019 season. The squad finished second in the Victoria Cup and won Elgon Cup.
Impala with seven
The squad picked on Tuesday will be preparing for the Rugby Africa Cup, Victoria Cup and Elgon Cup. Of the 46 players picked, seven are from Ngong road-based side Impala.
Steve Otieno who switched from Homeboyz to Impala makes a return to the squad after missing out last season. He joins regulars Sam Onsomu, Simon Miniafu and Elkeans Musonye.
Kenya Cup defending Champions KCB have six players picked for the training. All the six are members of the backline and they are Asati Samuel, Okwach Geoffrey, Kimwele Michael, Ojee Jacob, Njoroge Isaac and Onyala Vincent.
Griffin Musila, Curtis Lilako, Peter Kilonzo, Andrew Amonde, Oscar Sorano, Oliver Mang’eni and Michael Wanjala are notable omissions.
Kabras have five of their players picked and they are regulars George Nyambua and Ephraim Odour who missed the better part of the International season following their trip to South Africa. Brian Juma, Barry Robinson and Johnstone Munga’u are expecting to have another appearance with the Simbas having had playtime in 2019.
Menengai Oilers, Kenya Harlequins and Nondies have four players each in the training squad while Homeboyz have three players. Nakuru and Mwamba have two and one players respectively
Blak Blad, Kisumu and Western Bulls have been snubbed in the selection. Championship sides USIU, Strathmore and South Coast Pirates have also contributed to the squad. Six players are currently based abroad.

The Union has revealed that the training squad will be reviewed at the end of the 15s season by the technical team and a final provisional squad will be named.
According to the Kenya Rugby Union, the team will be training every Sunday, Monday and Wednesday mornings. With the midweek sessions purely focused on strength and conditioning.
