As the Kenya 7s squad was named on Thursday, Technical Director Paul Feeney made five changes bringing in Oscar Ouma, Sammy Oliech, Jacob Ojee, Daniel Sikuta and Oscar Dennis.
With Sikuta and Ouma back in the squad, the number of forwards is six and Coach Feeney says he is thinking of deploying Vincent Onyala as a centre in the upcoming legs of the World 7s Series.
Onyala who made his debut last season has been playing among the forwards in the shorter version. The 23-year old has been instrumental for Kenya 7s since making his debut and he was the top try scorer last season dotting 22 tries for Kenya. The KCB RFC man has six tries to his name this season.
The coach feels he might be effect as a centre and he is ready to offer him a chance in the midfield where he plays in the longer version.
“We’re going to look at Vincent Onyala as a centre and not a forward, give him an opportunity there because that’s where he plays in the fifteens version,” Feeney is Quoted by KRU’s official portal.
With the five changes, the tactician believes the side will have an exciting outing in North America.
“Plenty of changes but lots of old heads coming in with the changes and we still have a few of the young boys in there. We’re looking forward to this leg it should be very interesting.”
Kenya will be hoping to perform better in the outing having performed dismally in Australia.
