Mwamba RFC have settled on Kenyan International Janet Okello as the ladies captain for the season.
Okello replaces Evelyn Kalamera and she will be assisted by Agatha Jamari. According to the club’s official portal, Okello’s reign began officially during the first leg of the Kenya Rugby Women’s Festival staged at Kenyatta University grounds.
Mwamba bagged the trophy after beating Northern Suburbs 21-0. The coach says he will be rotating the captains during matchdays to build leadership capacities in the squad.
“Okello and Jamari will be the overall captains and will be tasked with leading the team into the new season. However, we might have rotating matchday captains as we build leadership capacities among the team. I would also want to thank Kalemera and Steph for their exemplary leadership for the past seasons.” Baabu told Mwamba official website.
Okello had a good outing in 2019 and she was named the Athlete of the Year at Magharibi Michezo awards.
