East African Champions Kakamega High School are winners of Kamusinga’s Allan Bradley 15s tournament following a 19-13 win against St Mary’s in a Final staged at Friend’s school Kamusinga on Sunday 9 February.
Wilberforce Ayiecha raced on for the opening try for the Barbarians and his try was converted by Philip Okeyo for seven points. Anthony Okoyo added an unconverted try for 12 points. Allan Ojango scored the third try that was converted by Emmanuel Mwinamo hand them a win.
To reach the finals, Kakamega saw their county rivals St Peter Mumias courtesy of three penalties which earned them a 9-0 win. Three penalties were also enough to lift the side past Chesamis in the quarters.
Their opponents St Mary’s Yala, on the other hand, eliminated host Kamusinga following 21-0 win. Yala had beaten Kamusinde 19-0 in the quarters.
This becomes the second preseason tournament for Kakamega High. They were part of the Yala Opens a fortnight ago where they beat St Peters 3-0 to win the 15s trophy.
Eldoret Polytechnic beat Jogoo 19-7 to win the club’s category. They had eliminated Matili while Jogoo beat Bushangala 19-0 to reach the finals.
