Nakuru avenge on Menengai Oilers

Nakuru edged their hometown rivals Menengai Oilers 19-17  in a Kenya Cup match staged at Nakuru Athletic Club on Saturday.

Oilers bagged a converted try in the opening minutes of the clash while Nakuru responded with an unconverted try.  The hosts Nakuru then landed second try through Philip Owour to take a 12-7 lead to the break.

On return from the break, Gibson Weru charges got an unconverted try to draw level at 12-12. Derrick  Keyoga’s high tackle on Gramwel Bunyasi who was about to score prompted referee Constant Cap to award a penalty try that propelled Nakuru to a 19-12 lead.

In the closing minutes, Oilers scored through Timothy Okwemba but failure to add the extras saw them miss the opportunity to tie the scores. Nakuru would hold on to win the clash revenging a 31-5 loss in the first leg.
