Kenya 7s boss Paul Feeney believes Geoffrey Okwach can carry the impressive performance witnessed locally to the world scene as he makes his World 7s Series debut next weekend.
Okwach is among the 13 players named by the Feeney to represent the nation in the upcoming Hamilton and Sydney 7s tournaments.
Feeney who was certainly impressed by Okwach’s performance in the 2019 Safari 7s tournament believes the player has a lot to display to the world and should carry his fine form as he heads for the tournaments.
“Okwach is a great young talent and he gets his opportunity in the next couple of legs. We saw what he can do in the Safari sevens and I am looking forward to him stepping up and showing the world what he can do.” Feeney told KRU’s official portal.
Okwach has impressed on the local scene winning the National 7s Circuit with KCB and was the top try and points scorer for Kenya Morans as they won the Safari 7s title in 2019.
He was part of Kenya Under 20’s success which saw them conquer Africa by beating Namibia 20-18 at KCB Sports Club to earn a ticket to the World Junior Trophy where they finished six.
Okwach who will be making his debut in the world 7s series is among the four players from KCB heading for the tournament the other three are Andrew Amonde, Johnstone Olindi and Vincent Onyala.
The squad leaves Nairobi for Hamilton on January 18.
