Kenyan International Geoffrey Okwach has been nominated for the Sports Personality of the Year Award (SOYA) set 24th January in Mombasa.
According to Kenya Rugby Union’s official portal the speedster has been nominated under Most Promising Boy award category.
Okwatch was part of Kenya Under 20 squad that won the Barthes Cup in April 2019 beating Namibia 21-18 at the KCB Sports Club to qualify for the World Junior Trophy.
The winger was with the team at the World Junior Trophy impressing once again on the wing as Kenya finished sixth in the competition.
The youngster then won the national 7s Circuit title with KCB and later helped Kenya Morans scoop the Safari 7s Title where he was awarded as the top try scorer/points after tying with South Africa’s Captain Siviwe Soyizwapi.
He also made his Kenya Simbas debut against Uganda in Kisumu and scored in the match. Okwatch also played on 21st September as they beat Zimbabwe 36-14 in Nakuru in the final Victoria Cup clash.
The voting lines officially open on 11th January.
