In a bid to boost their squad for the final seven matches of the regular season, Kabras have signed Zimbabwean front-rower Royal Mwale and Nakuru RFC’s Walter Okoth.
Kabras head coach Henly Du Plessis confirmed that the forward who can play both as a prop and hooker has penned down a deal with the Kakamega based side while Okoth is expected to link up with side next week with his move expected to be finalized before the midseason transfer window shuts this Saturday.
“We have signed a prop from Zimbabwe -Royal (Mwale). He will be joined by Walter Okoth from Nakuru. We are finalizing his (Okoth’s) deal and we expect that he will be with us from on next,” Du Plessis told Scrummage.
Mwale joins Kabras having had stints with South African club’s False Bay, Wits University and Sharks. He has got 25 International Caps for Zimbabwe having made his debut in 2012.
Mwale was part of Zimbabwe’s squad that won the Victoria Cup in 2019. He came off the bench in Zimbabwe’s 30-29 win over the Simbas in Bulawayo and their 36-14 loss to the Simbas in the last International match played in Nakuru.
The forward has won several accolades among them Most Dedicated Player and forward of the year 2011 while with Wits. He has won APT National 15s, Moor Premier League Cup, Murray Cup.
Okoth, on the other hand, has been the most promising performance for Nakuru since the National 7s Circuit. He carried the form to the longer version of the game.
