Kakamega overcome Kangaru in National 15s, Alliance shock Maseno

Kakamega High School bagged the second win at the National Secondary School 15s games staged at Shimo La Tewa by beating Kangaru 21-9.

The Barbarians went to the break leading 7-6 after Daniel Kamau bagged a converted try while Kangaru converted two penalties through Samuel Kiio to cut the gap to one point.

In the final half, Kiio’s third penalty send the Eastern Champions to nine points but Kakamega responded through Wilberforce Ayechia who crossed over for the second try. Philip Otieno added the extras to lead 14-0.

Alvin Mutachi added the third try for Kakamega and Emmanuel Mwinamo split the posts for extras. In the match played earlier, Kabianga picked first a pool B match after a 22-3 win over Galana.

In Pool A, Maseno threw away a 7-0 lead and allowed Central region champions Alliance to stage a comeback for a 10-7 win.

In the match played earlier in the day, Dagoretti registered the second straight win after beating Kwale 26-5.
