Grieving Muhuri, Laiser win National 7s opening games

2017 East African Champions Muhuri Muchiri put away their sorrows and staged a good show to see off Khamisi High School 25-0 in a Pool B match staged at Shimo La Tewa School on Tuesday 9 April.

The side is a mourning state following the demise of Daniel Omari who drowned on Monday while swimming at Neptune beach. Despite the blow, the Nairobi representatives put up a brave show and crossed the whitewash five times for the win.

Former Champions St Peter’s beat Agoro Sare 24-12. Two converted tries and two unconverted tries were enough for the Western Region Champions.  Agoro Sare bagged two tries and converted on in the clash.

In Pool A, holders Laiser Hill Academy ran three converted tries past Chianda from the Lake region. Chianda failed to respond and lost 21-0. The other Pool A match saw Muvuti from Eastern Region whip St Marys 31-0.

Pool C matches saw Vihiga High School run four tries against Barani and converted two of them to beat the Coastal side 24-5. They were joined on the winning list by Thika who outsmarted Shimba for a 25-7 win.
