Kenya 7s campaign in Hong Kong end after Japan loss


Kenya 7s journey at Hong Kong 7s has come to an end after a 21-12 defeat to Japan in the challenge trophy Semis played at Hong Kong Stadium.

Japan started by pressurizing Kenya with attacks. Jeff Olouch had to make a brilliant tackle to stop side from scoring.

Japan continued to knock at Kenya’s door and their breakthrough came at the third minute after Kazushi Hano latched on an offload and crossed over for a try that was converted for a 7-0 lead.

Kenya hit back after Augustine Lugonzo pounced on a loose ball in the scrum and sprinted to score a try that sent Kenya two points behind.

In the final half, Katsuyuki Sakai and Taisei Hayashi crossed over for two tries that send Japan to 21-5. Vincent Onyala responded with a converted try to put nine points behind Japan but the Asians held on to win

Kenya pick five and shift focus to Singapore.
