Oyoo’s contribution in Nakuru’s Driftwood win lauded

Nakuru RFC head coach Mitch Ocholla has hailed Kenyan International Nelson Oyoo’s contribution in Driftwood 7s triumph

The side beat Mwamba in sudden death, with Oyoo scoring the most important try that earned Wanyore a 12-7 win in the finals played at Mombasa Sports Club on Sunday. Ocholla feels that Oyoo’s arrival has been a boost and has lifted spirits in the team.

“It was good to have the inclusion Kenya 7s players. Nelson Oyoo brought in alot of experience in the squad. There has been bounce since he checked in,” Ocholla told Scrummage.

The former Kenya 7s coach admits that Driftwood 7s was tough since teams are more polished after having played in three legs.

“Its was a bit tigher because this is the time where clubs pick up by the virtue of playing more tournaments and the competition gets better. The quality of game has improved and we’re are seeing some things that we had not seen for alongtime in terms of polished levels,” he added.

Wanyore’s win was a revenge of the 2015 29-5 loss to Mwamba in the same tournament. Oyoo was sent off by referee Constant Cap after biting Collins Injera’s wrist in the 2015 edition.
