Kenya Simbas head coach Ian Snook has labelled Strathmore youngster Edmund Anya as a future star for Kenyan rugby.
Anya, a member of the U20 side Chipu is set to debut for the senior side on Saturday against Morocco in the Africa Gold Cup opener.He has been handed a starting berth at left wing.
“Anya is a really exciting player. He is a back three player with lots of pace and talent. We are pretty excited about what he has to offer,”Snook is quoted on Kenya Rugby Union’s portal.
Anya is expected to fill Jacob Ojee’s shoes at blindsided and Snook is well aware of the task at hand.
“It is obviously a very big first game for him but we think that he can perform at this level. We see him as one of the future stars of Kenyan rugby.”
Homeboyz duo of Zeden Marrow and Max Kang’eri are also in line for debut and commenting on their inclusion, the New Zealander said:
“We’ve watched them in club rugby and brought them into the training squad after trials. They have been training really well and deserve the opportunity. They can certainly perform well.”
