Kenya 7s finished sixth in the Hamilton 7s after a 19-15 fall to Samoa in the fifth play-off match played at Waikato Stadium in New Zealand.

Samoa kicked off the match strongly scoring through 26 year old Neria Foma. Tom Lesofo added the second try and Tila Mealoi converted for a 12-0 lead.

At the sixth minute, Foma completed his brace and Mealoi converted to push the scores to 19-0. Kenya Harlequins fly half Eden Agero pulled one back for Kenya 7s while Sammy Muregi cut the gap to nine points with a try.

Arthur Owira added the third try for Kenya but it was not enough to earn them a win in the clash.

The loss brings to an end Kenya 7s fine run which saw the beat Canada, Samoa and drew with USA to top their pool.

Innocent Simiyu’s chargers fell to Australia in Main Cup quarters and dropped to fifth place semis where they beat Scotland to book another date with Samoa.
