Menengai Oilers coach Gibson Weru said that their main target at the start of the new year will be to seal promotion to Kenya’s top tier rugby league,the Kenya Cup.
The Nakuru based side has been in fantastic form in 15s rugby remaining unbeaten since its formation.
They currently sit at the helm of the KRU Championship log having garnered 20 points from 4 matches.
“There is good progress and as we break for Christmas I believe we should be able to qualify for Kenya Cup,”Weru told Scrummage.
“We are looking the bigger picture and that is Kenya Cup 2019, we training extremely hard to ensure that if we earn a place we will be able to adapt easily,”he added.
“We are working our skills, speed and game awareness. But within the next few years we will be get there and be very competitive,”Weru concluded.
When the Championship resumes after the festive break,Weru’s charges will host Western Bulls, another side primed for Kenya Cup promotion.
