Menengai Oilers have had a successful year that culminated with ending 2017 on top of the KRU Championship log.
While admitting that it was difficult to credit their 2017 success to a few players, the club’s head coach Gibson Weru however singled out players who he believes have played a crucial role in the side’s fantastic run of form.
“It is not easy to pick out stand out players because every player has done his part well. We have seen three of our players Harold Anduvate, Erick Ombasa and Sam Muregi selected to Kenya 7s.They have been outstanding,”Weru told Scrummage.
Oilers had a fantastic National 7s circuit campaign, which saw them end among the best ten teams having made a cup final appearance at the Kabeberi 7s.
“We have Abuonji (Dan) whose leadership and game awareness has contributed our success. In fact we are doing well because of his experience,”he added.
“We also have Rodgers Audi, Clinton Odhiambo, and Derrick Keyoga who have also done. But the competition in the team is healthy,”he concluded.
After the Christmas break, the Nakuru based side will be seeking to extend their unbeaten streak in 15s rugby when they tackle Western Bulls at home.
