KRU Championship side UoE Trojans is mourning the death of fly half Hazary Murimi Karuiki who passed on on Saturday 23 December.
The halfback has not been training with rest of the team due to an injury that he picked during Embu 7s. Few days ago he collapsed and he was rushed to Moi referral then to Mp Shah before being operated in a hospital in Nairobi.
Few days after the operation, he developed a few complications and was rushed back to hospital where he passed on.
Team manager Kevin Mwisheni confirmed that the player died on Friday 9pm in Nairobi.
“Harazy last featured for us during the 10 aside tournament in Nakuru where he was impressive. During the holidays he took part in the Embu 7s where he picked an injury that has kept him out for long. He collapsed few days ago and was taken to Moi referral hospital, then transferred to MP Shah and later had an operation in another hospital in Nairobi. He had an MRI scan that showed that he was developing cancer, he told the Scrummage.
” After he was discharged he contacted me saying he had a successful operation. He later he had complications and was sent back to hospital and passed on Friday night, he added.
He becomes the seventh rugby star to pass on in a period of six months. James Kilonzo (KCB), Kevin Opondo (MMUST), Mike Okombe (Kabras), Mike Ouma (USIU), Peter Wekesa (Former Homeboyz skipper)and George Gachui (former Quins) are some of the big names that have passed on since July.
