Kabras RFC took their winning run in Kenya Cup to four matches in a row after whipping Mombasa RFC 77-3 in a match played at Mombasa Sports Club on Saturday.
The Sugarmen travelled to the coastal town of Mombasa with the aim of registering the fourth straight win in the 2017/18 season.
Mombasa on the other hand were in search of the first ever Kenya Cup win after having failed to sparkle in the 2014/15 season and in the opening three matches of this season.
Kabras kicked off the match strongly doting the opening try through skipper Max Adaka. Fly Half Kevin Keegan converted the penalty for a 7-0 lead. Former Nakuru RFC man Coleman Were ensured that the visitors doubled the lead with a try near the posts and Keegan comfortably added the extras.
Hillary Odhiambo and Dominic Osino added two tries that were converted by Keegan and gave Charles Cardovillis side a comfortable 28-0 lead.
The scoring run continued with Felix Ayange scoring at the far corner while Were completed his brace with a try that was converted by Keegan for 40-0 lead at halftime.
Centre Jacob Okumba opening the floodgates of tries in the final half but Keegan missed to add two more points. Despite being reduced to 14 men after Amboso David was sinbinned, John Mawe scored Kabras’ eighth try and pushed the scores to 50.
Odhiambo joined Were on the brace list scoring the ninth try which was converted by Keegan.
Substitutes also got on the scoresheet as the Sugarmen continued to enjoy the outing. Ugandan International Asuman Mugerwa and Kenyan International George Nyambua added two tries but Ivan Kirabo couldn’t add the extras.
Mombasa final got on the scoresheet with penalty but Mugerwa and Nyambua returned to score to give the visitors a 77-3 win.
