Strathmore ended their winless run after beating Mwamba RFC 28-17 in a Kenya Cup match staged at Lenana High School on Saturday.
Coming to this clash, both sides were in search of the first win in the 2017/18 season. Mwamba had lost the first three while Leos had lost two matches.
After minutes of exchange, Leos managed to get a break through and Gideon Makumi converted to penalties to give the students a 6-0 lead.
From a ruck, Gabriel Adero dived over the try line and send the scores to 11-0. Makumi however failed to add the extras.
Hyke Otieno pulled one back for the visitors, diving at the corner after being fed by Ronnie Omondi.
Few minutes into the second half Daniel Othieno dived over and Makumi added the extras for an 18-5 lead. A perfect run by fullback Mike Otieno on the other end saw the visitors cut down the gap to eight points.
Wiseman Aganya sent the scores past the 20 point mark scoring at the centre of the try box and Makumi converted for 28-10 lead.
Eli Motari was sent off for high tackle on a Mwamba player and at the final minutes of the clash Mwamba were awarded a penalty but it was not enough for them to end yhe winless run.
Kulabu have now lost four in a row.
